John Gelozin

John J. Gelozin, age 92 of Bridgeport, beloved husband of more than 60 years to the late Nina Hudan Gelozin, died peacefully on Friday, March 5, 2010. Born in Milford, he was the son of the late John and Natalie Sidor Gelozin. A resident of Bridgeport all his life, he was a retired supervisor for Quality Control for more than 40 years at G.E. and was a member of their Quarter Century Club. A hard working gentleman, he was also affiliated with his family's business, the Eagle Fuel Co. for many years. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Navy as a boatswain mate 2nd class. He was a member of the White Eagles Group 315, Polish Falcons, the Lithuanian Club B-Member, the Elks Club and the Holy Name Society. He was an avid golfer who loved nothing better than playing at Fairchild Wheeler and Patterson Golf Club courses. A kind and compassionate father, grandfather, brother and uncle, he will be fondly remembered for his gentle mannerisms. Survivors include his devoted daughters, Joan P. Jose and her husband Robert, Kathleen A. Gelozin, all of Trumbull, Carole A. Czernota and husband, Edward of Bridgeport; two grandchildren, Robert J. Jose and Lauren M. Czernota; a brother, Walter Gelozin and wife, Virginia of Trumbull; a sister, Helen Moyher of Fairfield; several nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Stanley Hudan and John Jankura; and sister-in-law, Lydia Jankura. He was predeceased by a brother, Alphonse Gelozin; and sisters, Agnes Filus and Bertha Walewski.

Funeral Information

Friends are invited to go DIRECTLY to St. Michael the Archangel Church on Monday at 10 a.m. where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated followed by full military honors in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. Calling hours are on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main Street, Bridgeport
