Henry W. Chorobik, age 93 a longtime resident, Stratford, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2010 at Connecticut Hospice, Branford. Henry was born in Bridgeport and was graduated from Harding High School. For 50 years, he was a tool and die maker, first with Moore Precision Tool and later retired from Burndy. Henry was a lifetime member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, Bridgeport where he shared his love of his faith and his Polish heritage. Henry was an avid amateur radio operator or "Ham," known to many by the call sign of W1KPC and a member of the Fairfield Ham Radio Club. He enjoyed the knowledge, fun and companionship of his fellow radio operators and friends he made worldwide. As a member of the Stratford Camera Club for more than 30 years, he developed prints and slides in his dark rook and won many prizes in local and regional competitions. In this group, he found especially wonderful friends who were with him always. He became a gourmet cook in later life and was a lifelong learner of all disciplines, especially of what was new and scientific. His inquisitive mind, sense of humor and quiet acceptance of life and its joy, made people look forward to seeing him. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mary Slusarz Chorobik of Stratford and by his daughter, Honore Radshaw of Fairfield. Beloved Dziadzi is also survived by three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, John Jay Radshaw and his wife, Virginia McGoey of North Haven and their son, Bennett, Nicole Radshaw and her devoted husband, James Richardson and their daughter, Aleksandra of Alexandria, Va., and Elizabeth Radshaw of Toronto, Canada; and other friends who considered him their "Dziadzi." Henry also leaves his sister, Sister Eleanor of the Franciscan Sisters of Saint Joseph, Hamburg, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews, including Susan Nagle and Essa, Grace and Olivia Kennedy of Sunshine, Fla. Mariann Scalisi of Massachusetts and John and Daniel Woznicki of Warren. The family wishes to thank all the wonderful people who took care of him, the doctors, nurses, care-givers, friends and the wonderful loving staff at CT Hospice.
