Hedwig Garwacki

July 28, 1921 - February 23, 2010

Hedwig H. Garwacki, age 88 of Stratford, beloved wife of 57 years to the late Matthew B. Garwacki, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 23, 2010. Born in Bridgeport, she was the daughter of the late Marceli and Weronika Bohenska Lapinski. A resident of Stratford since 1951, she was a retired employee of G.E. and was also a member of the Baldwin Center. A wonderful mother and grandmother who was proud of her Polish Heritage and she also instilled these values of Polish culture, tradition and recipes to her devoted children. A religious lady, she was a parishioner of St. Michael the Archangel Church for her whole life. Survivors include her children, Francis Garwacki and Mary Garwacki, both of Stratford, Michael and his wife, Diane of Monroe, Margaret and her husband, Scott Goodfellow, Marcella and husband, Dennis Festa, and Helen and her husband, Joseph Krekoska, all of Stratford; a brother, Edward Lapinski; two sisters, Sophie Lapinski and Jennie Krok and her husband, Ignatius, all of Stratford; nine grandchildren, Robert and Lisa Goodfellow, David and Laura Garwacki, Christina and Nicholas Festa, Allison, Daniel and Matthew Krekoska; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Josephine Lapinski.

Funeral Information

Friends are invited to go DIRECTLY to St. Michael the Archangel Church on Saturday at 10 a.m. where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. Calling hours on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Commerce Hill Radozycki Funeral Home, 4798 Main St., Bridgeport.
