Bessie Papandreou Giannos

Bessie Papandreou Giannos, age 94 of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late John Giannos, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 19, 2010. Born in Greece, she was the daughter of the late Fotis and Theodora Spilyo-topoulos Papandreou. A resident of Bridgeport since 1955, she was a retired dressmaker for the Fairfield Dress Shop and a member of the International ladies Garment Union. A devoted and religious individual, she gave much of her time to help her church and its societies, The Daughters of Penelope and the Philoptochos Society. A caring and giving person, she will be sadly missed by all those whose lives she touched. Survivors include her devoted son, William (Bill) Giannos and his wife, Dina and grandson, Alexander, all of Bridgeport; two sisters, Georgia Manslopoulos and Mary Kannas, both of Greece; sister-in-law, Mary Papandreou of Bridgeport; and a special niece, Theodora Fattibene; as well as several other nieces and nephews.

Funeral Information

Friends are invited to to DIRECTLY to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church on Friday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Demetrios Recachinas Protobresbyter officiating, followed by burial in Lakeview Cemetery. Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. in the Commerce Hill Funeral Hill, 4798 Main St., Bridgeport. Trisagion Services at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
