Anastasios Michael Kaklamanos age 98 of Shelton, loving husband of 46 years to the late Theresa Victoria Gullone Kaklamanos passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 28, 2019 in his home with his loving family by his side. Anast, known as Jim or Tasso was born on the island of Andros, Greece in 1920, to the late Michael and Sophia Baltsas Kaklamanos.

He arrived in this country seeking the better life at the age of fourteen. After living and working in Boston, Massachusetts, he left for New York City and worked in a luncheonette where he met the love of his life Theresa, whom he married in 1941. They enjoyed a loving life together while living in New York, Bridgeport, Trumbull and finally Shelton. Jimmy was a loving and caring husband, father, papou, friend and mentor. We lost a wonderful man who will be sorely missed by all whose lives he touched.

During WWII he was stationed in Saipan and Okinawa. Moving to Bridgeport, he went into business at Tomlinson’s Fast Food Restaurant, better known as The Greeks. He volunteered and supported Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church serving in many offices including President of the Parish. He was awarded with the title of “Archon,” which is an honor given by his all Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew for one’s outstanding service and distinguished and respected leader of the Orthodox Christian Community. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was known for his gardening, cooking and also mentoring his family and friends.

In addition to his loving wife Theresa, Jimmy was predeceased by his companion Lorraine Daston, together for 15 years, a brother and sister. Jimmy is lovingly remembered by his children, Dolores and her husband Michael Delales, Michael Kaklamanos, James Kaklamanos and his wife Joanne, Susan and her husband Thomas Sorge, eight grandchildren: Stacey and Michael Delales, Kristin Waldemar, Michaela Kaklamanos, Stefanie Sorge-Bass, Jenna Giordano, Andrew and Avery Kaklamanos, nine great grandchildren, his sister Elefteria Baltsas Petrisi, two nieces Margarita and Sophia all of Athens, Greece. We would like to thank his caregivers, Maria Podsklavana, Ursala Sobka, Carmen Rosa and Charles Pettway for their care and devotion to Jimmy.

Calling hours will take place on Thursday, May 2, 2019 from 4pm to 7pm in the Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main Street, Bridgeport with Trisagion services at 4:30pm in the funeral home. The Rite of Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11:30am at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Bridgeport with Fr. Georgios Livaditis Presbyter officiating followed by interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Bridgeport in memory of Jimmy. For online condolences, memorial tributes and directions visit us at
