Elias Jose Dib age 41 of Shelton, loving husband to Teresa Kawan Dib passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2020. Born on November 16, 1978 in Turmero, Venezuela, he is the son of Joseph Elias Dib and the late Josephine Kwefati Dib. He worked in construction as a carpenter. Elias was a devoted member of St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church, he will be sadly missed by all whose lives he touched.

In addition to his loving wife Teresa, he leaves behind his two sons, Jose and Camilo.

Due to the current situation and social gathering restrictions, all funeral services will be private with interment to take place at St. John Cemetery, Monroe. The Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main St. Bridgeport has been entrusted with the services. For online condolences and memorial tributes visit us at

On Sunday afternoon our community experienced a tragedy with the sudden passing of Elias Jose Dib. Elias was only 42 years old. He was the beloved husband of Teresa Khawam Beilouneh and the father of Jose and Camilo, ages 11 and 9 years old. Elias, Teresa, Jose, and Camilo all came to our community 4 years ago from Venezuela. Elias and Teresa were born and raised in Venezuela but are of Lebanese and Syrian ethnicities. Elias had a dream of coming to America to make a home for his wife and his precious boys, to escape the Venezuelan corruption and poor economy and give his children a bright future here in the US. He worked very hard in construction as many immigrants do. He was in the midst of getting his green card and had already received his working papers. The kids are in school in Shelton.
We know how hard it is for immigrants, especially these days. Elias died of a likely massive heart attack. He had 2 previous health episodes in the last couple of months where he passed out. He went to the doctor once but did not get testing. He did not because Elias did not have health insurance and was afraid that he could not pay for his health care bill. This is a true tragedy. And he collapsed in the company of Camilo, his 9-year-old son.
