Obituary

Rosa M. Marrero, age 79, beloved wife of Juan Marrero of Bridgeport, died peacefully in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family, on Saturday February 15th 2020. Born in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Jose and Julia Vasquez Ortiz. Mrs. Marrero was a long time resident of Bridgeport and a devoted member of St. Mary Church, Bridgeport, where she was an active member of various church committees and events. She worked as an electronic assembler for the Anton Bauer Company of Shelton for many years, until her retirement in 2001. Mrs. Marrero was a loyal and enthusiastic New York Yankees fan, she loved to travel, she last visited Jerusalem in 2001 before becoming ill. She will be long remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

In addition to her husband, Juan, of 61 years, she is survived by her devoted daughters, Myrna (Carlos) Maldonado of Derby, Margie (Johnny) Gonzalez of Seymour, Rose Mary (Gary) Greco Torrance, CA, and Zoraida (Melvin) Cubero of Ansonia; 6 sisters, 2 brothers, 7 cherished grandchildren, Juan-Carlos, Jonathan, Melvin Rene, Emily, Nico, Marcus, and Jessica; 4 cherished great-grandchildren, Jasiah, Jelijah, Christian, and Sofia; as well as several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Marrero was predeceased by 6 brothers and sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at 11am in St. Mary Church, 25 Sherman St. Bridgeport followed by interment in Park Cemetery, Bridgeport. Calling hours will take place on Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:30am in the Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main St. Bridgeport.
